NYFW AW’14- Naeem Creates A Dream

This post should just read one word- Beautiful. Two- Flawlessly Beautiful. Admittedly the show started with a number of animal print pieces that I found less appealing and very Dolce & Gabbana ish, everything leopard reminds me of the Sicilian duo to be honest, but when Naeem switched it up with his signature pizzazz, it was well worth everything.

Naeem Khan creates a dream out of clothes I cannot imagine a woman not feeling beautiful when wearing one of his pieces. It was slinky, a little bit disco especially that sparkly jumpsuit, something art deco in the fringed pieces, and a whole lot of sultry. Where it was elaborate, the silhouette was tame and where it was simple the details spoke in volumes. Beadings and fringe dresses reminiscent of the gilded age, there was such timeless elegance and finesse in this collection. That gold three-quarter sleeved column gown is possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen on a runway and so simple too, the dark florals had a sinister yet romantic edge to them, graduated metallic stripes on high neck chiffon gowns and again with three-quarter sleeves, black and red was also a heavenly combination; see that lace and red appliqué high neck gown for proof, even sparkles and lilac worked so well together it almost defied belief. And in the end, it was all just so breathtaking my jaw wouldn’t close for a good ten seconds afterwards. To be honest it stayed open from the moment I saw that gold high neck number.
