Basics are the bones of a closet, there may be secret weapons and special pieces but what truly makes a wardrobe have staying power are the basics, the jacket, the shirt, the dress, etc. So its no surprise that I find this refreshing collection from Baukjen very appealing, a refinement of the minimal and an elevation of the basic.
In their notes they describe the feel of this collections as “paired back and effortless” and I couldn’t agree more, there is a reticence to it that compounds its appeal. Feminine and soft but so well thought out. Luxe leathers and neutrals. Sport luxe is upped with a sophisticated touch, the Modern Safari pieces are more attuned towards the city slicker, that soft snake print dress is quite the charmer, and we get to throw a masculine slant on this with the boyfriend jean and that hero Ravenna biker; I am beyond in love with the Summer Navy.
Particular favourite is the Ravenna leather skirt in classic Caviar Black, doesn’t that sound so luxurious, butter soft and forever more relevant to your wardrobe. And that says it all about this collection.
