5Things with @meredya

There’s something about Meredy, its that indescribably cool, funny, sweet something. I always feel so incredibly posh by association, and grown up when I tweet with her. She’s ever so graceful, it’s easy to tell even in her tweets…she’s incredibly refined and adorable and I would like to have champagne with her someday; a bottle of 1907 Heidsieck, perhaps (real fancy look it up) or a bottle of Romanee Conti and impossible amounts of cheese in the Louvre at midnight swapping love stories of happily ever after, or maybe champagne tea at Claridges, before we hit the shops and do some severe damage or just maybe we’d lose ourselves in a vintage market in Milan and have a picnic on the roof of the Duomo…whatever it is, I can guarantee it would be a time to remember, an adventure to treasure.
Here’s Meredy…
1. What era defines your style?

Definitely the “Golden” or “Roaring Twenties,” so you can imagine my enthusiasm over the runway looks recently. Not only is my favorite literature from this Art Deco period, but I just adore the fashion and beauty. I love that women dressed up all the time when they went out – hair, jewelry and makeup were all in tact. Dresses were shorter and heels were shown! I try to carry on the tradition of dressing up now. Living in southern California, people tend to dress more casually; however, I’m the exception, as I love to wear dresses and heels out. Dress up I say! Show those legs, lashes and lips! People would go dancing and there was so much energy during this time, so I try to carry that spark with me. It’s important to maintain your appearance and so fun to plan looks for events. I always prefer to be overdressed than underdressed. That is my rule, and I don’t care what people say. There are just no exceptions. Plus, those who know me, know how much I love shoes, and I that’s usually how I plan my look; I start with the shoes and then plan the rest. From the big hats, to the ‘flapper’ dresses, trousers, and higher heels, to the bold lips and makeup, I felt the 20s really started to definite the feminine and modern woman. A lot of this influence came from Coco Chanel of course, which is why she will forever be a fashion icon of mine.

2. What words of wisdom would you pass on to your younger self?

Take risks. Trust in yourself and your abilities. Try everything because you only live once. Make choices that make you happy, and then you will have no regrets. Follow your heart and fall in love. It’s the best thing in the entire world. Don’t give up easily. Cherish your relationships because it’s your family and friends who matter most.

3. Describe a perfect moment in your day?

I definitely love the mornings. During the week, I rise early (5am) and either run or workout. This is how I properly wake up. I love when I return home, kiss my husband and get ready for the day. I love when he asks my opinion on my what tie and shirt he should wear to work that day. In my opinion, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so I always take the time to make my breakfast and latte. I love prancing around the house in my robe, checking my fashion and news feeds on my laptop while fully digesting the busy work day ahead. It’s my time for serenity. My husband always leaves before me, and lets me know what he plans on cooking that evening. He is really the best. Then, I finish getting ready and off I go! My weekend mornings I love even more, as I get to sleep in and really enjoy this time off with my husband. I have more time to make a proper breakfast which usually includes homemade pancakes, waffles, French toast or omelettes – whatever we’re in the mood for because again, breakfast in the most important meal. For me, weekend mornings are the best time to relax, catch up on reading, enjoy the coastal scenery, and of course have fun with those you love most.

4. What do you value the most in people?

Honesty, loyalty, selflessness and love. I have definitely learned who my real friends are over the years, and I think any relationship needs trust in order to work. I also think true friends will always stand by your side and be happy for all your successes in life. I don’t like hidden agendas, and I know people who are loyal will never cross you or stab you in the back. Selflessness is one of the most incredible attributes, and people who possess it deserve all the love and happiness that life has to offer. I also think love is what gets people through the easy and hard times and be there for others.

5. What is the one trait of yours you would like to pass on to your child?

Determination and positivity. It is what keeps me going. 🙂

btw; She’s expecting and I have first dibs on the child; boy or girl…

Thanks M. x
